The Samuel Staten Sr. Pre-Apprenticeship Program, Inc. (SSSPAP) is designed to move people of color and women into construction trade apprenticeships in Philadelphia and vicinity. In order to enter apprenticeships people must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the physical ability to perform work.
If you possess these three things there will be other criteria and activities that SSSPAP will prepare you to possess to move into apprenticeships and ultimately to journeyman status in a construction trade. Once these criteria are met, you will be able to proceed onto other portions of the application process and eventually be contacted by program staff for consideration to enter SSSPAP as a participant. SSSPAP will provide the building trades unions with fully qualified applicants to their apprenticeships. Be mindful that there are other opportunities that are closely related to requirements of the building trades which may be suitable for participants in the program.
Acknowledging the infection rate of the COVID-19 virus, we expect visitors/applicants and others to our program sites to provide verification of vaccination and/or wear appropriate protective coverings. SSSPAP reserves the right to deny access to those who do not meet our requirements.
